Sideway passing

Sideway passing is made, when the ball must be passed on after a direct press
against the defense.
The sideway passing is faster than the ordinary throw,
which also is an advance in the press play.
In order to make a sideway
passing it is important that the player is able to hold the ball with the back
of the hand turned upwards without loosing it.
The sideway pass is performed
by holding the hand with the ball in front of the body with one hand - back
of the hand upward.
Now a stretching of the elbow is performed and at the
same time the hand is turned so the ball points in the direction of the receiver.
The ball is flicked away with a pressure of the fingers, especially with
the thumb.
