ABOUT THE EXERCISES |
I have tried to collect the game exercises in some sort of order. It is guaranteed, that it can be discussed where the exercises belongs, as the things, which goes on a handball court, seldom stands alone, but is a combination of many sequences.
The systems and text have been collected from books about handball, club- and country tournaments, courses, visits to other clubs, own experiences and what I have been confronted by playing against other teams with my own team.
In this chapter I have collected exercises, which can be used to practice actual game-situations, which later can be used in the collective game.
Some of the exercises have been made with moving graphic. My aim is, that all the exercises are shown with moving graphic, but it may take some time.
Some of the exercises have a name rather than telling what the players are doing. It is more easy to learn a certain system and start it by calling a name rather than shouting, that left wing shall run in and put a screening on right defending back, the pivot must screen the playmaker and right back attacks to the left of playmaker. Just call the name of the system, and the players knows what to do.
There is no guarantee that the systems works. They are made to force the defense to react in a certain way, but if it does not, the players must be able to vary the system in a way, that they can take benefit of the new situation. Also the players must not learn, that a system must be played to the end. If it is possible to make a free shot at the goal, they must do that. An attack-system is made to make a gab in the defense - not to overlook a gap.
I hope these exercises may be of use to coaches, players and other interested parties.
